Large-scale collaboration is a term sometimes used to describe collaborations involving hundreds to thousands of people. Such collaborations may be organizational/institutional (such as a attempts to link many different scientific institutions to solve a problem) which make use of many different communication mediums, to internet initiatives such as Wikipedia which are organised around a broad multidisciplinary objectives and utilize a small set of communication mediums.
